This morning I went out with Grandma Jones to get a fancy dress outfit for the party on Friday, and Sam stayed at home with Daddy and they had a boy's breakfast together...not sure exactly what they had but it was VERY messy.
This is the story of Baby Sam and his journey into the wonderful world of food...
...up until introducing finger foods Sammy was exclusively breast fed (very proud of myself for this). At five and a half months old he became increasingly nosy about what hubby Chris and I were doing...and eating.
We decided to follow the 'baby led weaning' method; for those of you who've not heard of this it is basically a method of weaning your baby from 6 months (the WHO recommended age to start weaning) using finger foods and allowing the baby to explore foods at their own pace.
The baby experiments and learns by picking up the food, squidging it about and eventually swallowing some!
The theory is that the baby will not eat the food until they are developmentally ready to; i.e. they have lost the tongue-thrust reflex, they can control their hands and fingers enough to pick up the food and get it into their mouths, and they have the ability to gum and swallow it!
That's the theory - here's what happens in reality...
